Salary: R 1 196 100.00 per annum (Total Cost to Company). 


 A recognised Bachelor’s degree in Law (NQF level 8).

 A Master’s degree (NQF level 9) will be an added advantage.

 Minimum of 5 years’ experience at a senior management level.

 Knowledge and understanding of the contract management.

 Knowledge of the Environmental Legislative framework.

 Knowledge of legal issues and policy development.

 Practical experience in the use of standard legal enforcement tools; practical experience in the management of projects; ability to negotiate, litigate, mediate and arbitrate and conciliate. General legal knowledge and good commercial law knowledge.

 Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.

 Knowledge of HR management practices. Strategic capability and leadership skills.


 Manage legal support by conducting the regulatory impact assessment with respect to policy and law reform.  Design and implement a compliance framework for waste stream management activities of the Bureau. Oversee legal support in respect of litigation, debts, losses and alternative dispute resolutions to the company.  Administer effective and efficient legal services to the company to minimize legal risk.

 All candidates shortlisted for SMS post will be subjected to a technical competency exercise that intends to test relevant technical elements of the job, the logistics of which will be communicated by the Bureau.

 Following the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools.

 Furthermore, the person appointed to this position will be subjected to a security clearance, the signing of a performance agreement and an employment contract.

 The Waste Bureau reserves the right not to make an appointment.
