Job Specification...

The Manager: Legal Programmes is accountable for the academic administration of non-subsidised continuing education programmes in the Faculty. The responsibilities of Manager: Legal Programmes include:

  • Ensure legal compliance of continuing education programmes division academic administration
  • Develop programme content to the requirements of clients
  • Ensure effectiveness and efficiency of continuing education programmes division academic administration
  • Plan and oversee the administration activities related to the lifecycle of the student enrolled for the continuing education programmes
  • Ensure prescribed timeous approval of the programme structures
  • Implement the approved programme structure on the Integrated Tertiary System (ITS) to ensure effective administration
  • Market the approved programme to ensure sufficient interest and awareness
  • Compile reports related to academic administration matters in respect of the continuing education programmes division
  • Develop the year programme and allocate the resources accordingly, i.e. lecturers, venues and suppliers
  • Manage the student cycle from application, registration, study material, assessments and awarding of qualifications
  • Manage the graduation ceremony
  • Liaise with lecturers, students and peers on a daily basis to ensure effective running of the programmes
  • Generate various report from the ITS System as and when required
  • Co-ordinate the day-to-day running of the division i.e. leave, time schedules etc.
  • Act as liaison between various departments and the faculty academic administration staff on matters concerning the administration of continuing education programmes
  • Provide appropriate leadership to administration staff at the continuing education programmes division
  • Ensure effective written communication with stakeholders
  • Manage the human, physical and financial resources related to academic administration in the continuing education programmes division
  • Facilitate an ethos of care and a preferred student experience in relation to academic administration

Minimum Requirements...

Relevant undergraduate qualification (NQF 7) with 5 to 8 years’ relevant experience

  • Management or supervisory experience in relation to people, processes and systems in a higher education environment

  • Experience in compiling of reports

  • Advanced computer skills in Windows, MS Word and MS Excel

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Competencies and Behavioural Attributes:

  • Ability to work under pressure in a complex multi-campus environment
  • Detailed oriented
  • Ability to deal constructively with conflict
  • Proven leadership capabilities


  • Honours degree or equivalent qualification
  • ITS experience in relation to academic life-cycle processes
  • Knowledge of legal education
